King of Iron Chefs - Final (Pt 2) - Lobster (Homard) - Chen vs. Sakai
Date Added: Mar 25, 2008 07:30 PM
Description: Six years have passed since Chairman Kaga completed his Kitchen Stadium. Over 300 challengers fought in Kitchen Stadium. 14,113 dishes were created. Chairman Kaga guarantees that these will be the best battles you have ever seen. This is the only time I can think of when we see all seven Iron Chefs on stage at once.

The two chefs who did battle in Kitchen Stadium the longest will meet in the final battle of the King of Iron Chefs tournament. They met previously in 1995 during the Mr. Iron Chef 1995 tournament. They are also known to be very good friends.

This is part 2 of the King of Iron Chefs Final. It is an emotional victory for the winner and King of Iron Chefs, . . .nah. You will just have to watch it yourself to see who wins.
Judges: Tatsuo Umemiya, Yuko Asano, Chua Lam, Kazuko Hosoki, Rokusaburo Michiba
Iron Chef: Iron Chef French Hiroyuki Sakai
Theme Ingredient: Lobster
Challenger: Iron Chef Chinese Chen Kenichi

Two worthy finalists

There really was a lot of emotion in this, though maybe tempered slightly for the winner knowing that he still has one more to go... Anyway, great crowds, great dishes, nice presentations. (and a grand entrance by Kaga too!) Very appropriate that it's Chen and Sakai in the end. Would've been weird to see either Kobe or Morimoto in the end, especially if one of them won. :p Almost speaks more of their overall career more than just having a good day, know what I mean? ;) Favorite dishes from Sakai and Chen were probably their rock pot and cheese gratin ones. Really upped the interest quotient with those two. (though I'm almost positive someone else did the cheese on lobster thing before!) Nice to see Chen's sons there. Funny how Kentaro said that they'd been there to watch battles several times before, but never for one of their father's. Were they left there to be babysat or something? Heh.
