... yes, he did get rather testy there. i watched it, expecting to see him provoked by some irritating, whiny complaint by Shinichiro Kurimoto (he can get on my nerves) ... but i guessed wrong. in a way, i could see that it was somewhat chiding, directed at a person who has been a taster at KS enough times to recognise the limits of some ingredients. Ahhh, who knows, but it was unexpected to see. |

GRRRRRRRR it's true...Michiba is right, the judge's are poorly chosen and don't even know their own japanese food. You can't remove all the salt content in just one hour. hee hee, funny though ! |

Flamola! I hadn't read the above comments before watching, so I was totally shocked to hear those comments. I had to play it over to make sure. Man alive! Flamola courtesy of Michiba! |

Who was wrong? In later episodes where Michiba appeared with Takata being a judge, I noticed that Michiba looked a bit grimly at her. Well, that's my perception anyway. I think Michiba got irritatd because Takata kept making the same comment dish after dish. To be fair, as a chef, he shouldn't have done that. However, first of all he was a senior (he could have been Takata's grandfather easily.) and a renowned chef at that who was very confident in his dishes. He also had just got out of the hospital and could have been cranky and tired with this unusual ingredient. On the other hand, Takata as a junior should have spoken more respectfully to him. She spent most of her life in Europe and basically had an image of high society profile; therefore, her comments usually sounded more straightforward than those of other junior judges. There are words in Japanese that one could say to express his humbleness before criticizing. I have seen other junior judges do that and they didn't sound too offensive. Well, I think Takata realized her mistake after that and tried hard to make peace with Michiba, but you can see that he was still irritated. On the side note, if my memory serve me correctly, I think Kishi also said something in the same vein with the early dish, but she didn't keep saying the same thing about it. She even nodded probably in agreement while Michiba was scolding Takata. Nonetheless, Kaga did his duty as a chairman very well to smooth everything up. He's awesome. |
